Analysis and mapping of the quality of water from springs in the rural community of Piroás Redenção (CE)

In the Northeast region of Brazil, water scarcity is common and is intensified by the predominance of high temperatures, low humidity and little precipitation. This situation had greater repercussions from 2014 onwards when other Brazilian regions began to obtain lower than expected rates of rainfall, causing a decrease in water levels in rivers, dams and other bodies of water. In the Piroás community, located in the municipality of Redenção in the State of Ceará, water scarcity is also a characteristic of the region. Agricultural practices such as deforestation for the implantation of arable areas, illegal fires and the use of pesticides have contributed to the degradation of springs, quality and their surrounding area. In view of this, the objective of this work is to map the spatialization of springs and analyze the water according to CONAMA quality parameters and Ordinance No. 2,914. For that, the walk was carried out to the place where the spring was and collected coordinates and water collection. The analyzes were carried out at NUTEC and at the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony (UNILAB). All springs obtained values higher than the maximum allowed by legislation in relation to total coliforms, Escherichia coli, heterotrophic bacteria and conductivity. Regarding the results of chemical analysis, N5-MSC showed a pH lower than the minimum allowed and N2-DD showed iron above the maximum allowed value. As for the physical parameters, N2-DD and N5-MSC presented higher color values and N1-ADC, N2-DD and N3-SF presented turbidity higher than the maximum value allowed by legislation. The analyzed springs do not comply with the parameters established for human consumption in accordance with resolutions 357 and 396 and Ordinance No. 2,914.
