This Technical Note reports a concern with "sustainable development" where companies seek processes and programs that minimize global warming and environmental devastation; the oil industry is considered one of the main villains. As a result, "Pollution Prevention" (P2) programs have been implemented, such as "Cleaner Production" (P2), which aims to increase the economic advantage and environmental benefits of companies. According to SENAI (2003), the PmaisL program brings to companies numerous environmental advantages. According to Almeida and Giannetti (2006), eco-efficiency "is a proactive philosophy, recognised by industrial sectors and that can bring competitive advantages". Rossi and Barata (2009) make reference to several barriers or difficulties for the implementation of PmaisL. In the Technical Note a few barriers to the implementation of PmaisL, according to some classifications, are also discussed.
