Civil construction has a great importance to the economy and development of Brazil, having grown considerably in recent years, however it is an area that still does not explore much of the available software, having several projects for the same work developed by different people, there is a mismatch in execution. In this sense, the objective was to demonstrate the BIM technology in the compatibility of projects, in comparison with the traditional model by AutoCad, aiming to demonstrate how the compatibility by software is important to speed up processes and reduce errors. To present the project compatibility of a multifamily residence designed using BIM technology, through Eberick and QiBuilder programs, and interoperability with the IFC format, compared to the traditional model in AutoCad. By checking mainly the workflow, it was found that using only AutoCad makes the process more time-consuming and more uneventful, since the compatibility between the projects occurs only through the designer's vision, by the 2D overlay of the projects, which does not allow verification as a whole. Despite the fact that the three-dimensional modeling for the facade was used in the study in question, even in the projects developed in AutoCad, there were still complications, that is, projects that were not aligned with each other, requiring corrections. With BIM compatibility, there was greater agility and reliability, since the entire process is automated, and not intuitively, with all projects being presented in a three-dimensional way.
