Violence in the work context: a study in the Northeastern semi-arid region

This study aimed to identify the occurrence of conflicts/violence in the organizational environment and the strategies used to manage them, based on theories of violence and the Psychology of Peace. The data were collected through interviews with managers and workers' representatives. The results showed the prevalence of psychological violence over physical violence, recurrence of moral harassment and the occurrence of abusive leadership. The conflict resolution strategies used were mediation, orientation talks, reinforcement of organizational values, suspension and dismissal.
