Violence against women is a timeless theme, taking into account the scope of this problem, worldwide, so several professions aim to provide assistance to victims of violence, so nursing needs to be prepared to face the specifics of a situation of violence. To analyze the contribution of nursing in the fight against violence against women through a service that provides adequate care and treatment with dignity. This is an integrative literature review through the application of qualitative research methods, in addition to the application of inclusion methods: temporal, thematic and methodological pertinence. We analyzed 10 articles with different methodological approaches to discuss the role of nurses in the context of domestic violence, thus emphasizing the need not to have prior judgments with the victim and a prioritization of care with dignity. It was concluded that the nurse's approach requires attention and approach techniques, taking into account that the victim who arrives at a health unit is already in a critical condition, so treating the patient with dignity and the necessary education protects this victim and encourages them to seek ways to break the cycle of violence.
