This paper deals with the use of laser in pre-prosthetic surgery, addressing the advantages of its use compared to the conventional methods most used today, presents the academic community and dentists with important information about its benefits, even if the laser has been Introduced in dentistry in the 1980s, it is little known by the academic community, which mostly opts for the conventional method, surgery with the use of scalpel and suture, and the reduction of medication prescriptions. The methodology used in this article was the literature review of publications on the subject, demonstrating the importance of using these new technologies, as well as the indication of low and high power lasers, as appropriate, with a view to more satisfactory results, not only at the end and in the recovery period, in order to reduce the occurrence of painful symptoms. Thus, the study results show that the use of laser in pre-prosthetic surgery is more advantageous for the patient. This review was necessary as a way to further popularize this method of surgery, which provides greater comfort for the patient throughout the procedure and in the post-surgical period, with reduced recovery time, as well as providing greater efficiency, saving time and favoring a better performance of the professional.
