Diverse populations and organizations works in development of actions and strategies to minimize impacts caused by water scarcity through technologies and instruments to rainwater harvesting. This study propose estimate the potencial of rainwater harvesting through roofs in the João e Maria's settlement at municipality Barra do Bugres, state of Mato Grosso. To realize this study, was determinated the roof's area and the type of tile from 24 of 95 residences, chosen by lot. Periodiclly visits were made for roofs's measurement and sketch representation. Volume calculation is through equation 1. The calculation used evidenced diference between the volume of roofwater harvesting at standard roof (82,66m³) and the residences with roof increased (values among 111,24 and 221,24m³). The volumes estimated indicated a elevated potential of raiwater harvesting between the residences avaliated, being largest quantity those who increased the standard roof area. This study further demonstrates the need to search for feasibility solutions in unfavorable environments regarding the availability of resources, which environments require substantially actions implemented by planning and management policies.
