Selective collection: perspectives of sustainability in associations of solid waste pickers in the city of Fortaleza (CE)

This study aims to analyze the prospects for sustainability of Associations of Solid Waste Pickers in social, economic, environmental and institutional respect to the implementation of the selective collection program, with the locus Municipality of Fortaleza, in Ceará. In this qualitative research method was used, with its analysis of explanatory and descriptive nature, based on documentary and bibliographical and field research conducted in 09 associations of collectors of wet and dry waste participating in the Waste and Citizenship Forum and receive support from the political the environmental SEUMA. The dimensions given were constados: high accounting organization, better level of awareness about the importance of data collection, development of new businesses, improving the internal politics of the organization, increasing partnerships between collectors and industries etc.. The implementation of a new cooperative, promises to be a channel for the formation of the associative and cooperative spirit between the associations and groups of collectors.
