The objective of this study was to carry out the hydrogeomorphometric characterization and dynamic of soil cover in the Rio dos Veados microbasin, in the years 1990 and 2020, with the help of remote sensing and free software such as QGIS 2.10.1, Track Maker Free and Google Earth. The microbasin has an area of 1,210.49 km2, perimeter of 205 km, a form factor of 0.20, a circularity index of 0.36 and a compactness coefficient corresponding to 1.65, denoting elongated shape and absence of susceptibility to flooding from the geometric point of view. The altitude varied from 173 to 248 m, with an average value of 193 m and altimetric amplitude of 75 m. The microbasin landscape presented a slope varying from 0 to 114%, with predominant classes of smooth wavy (53.59%) and flat relief (40.55%). The microbasin has a drainage network of 418.42 km, dendritic pattern of 4th order, 0.05 springs km-2, drainage density of approximately 0.35 km km-2, maintenance coefficient of 2,893.0 m2 m-1, sinuosity index of 22.79% and concentration time of 30.64 h. Regarding the dynamics of land cover, in the period from 1990 to 2020, we observed reductions in the areas of native field and native forest, and increase in the agricultural area, in the microbasin and in its riparian zone. Landscape information can be used by public authorities and organized civil society to assist in the preparation of plans for the use and management of natural resources.
