Environmental issues require multidisciplinary analysis capable of presenting different scientific perspectives, making it possible to understand the complex phenomena related to environmental damage and crimes. Green criminology provides for interdisciplinary examination of crimes against nature, functioning as a tool to study, analyze and deal with environmental crimes, which are often ignored by conventional criminology. Given the above, the objective of this study is to register the arguments and theoretical foundations present in criminology that precedes green crime as the study area identified and contributed to its formation. The method used was qualitative. An analysis of bibliographic character made as base of studies on green criminology, published in global level, applied in scientific works indexed with databases available in digital servers. It is concluded that green criminology is positioned as a discipline that considers criminal issues not only defined by a strictly legalistic conception of criminal law, but also, ponders issues related to rights, justice, morals, victimization, criminality and the use of criminal justice systems. administrative, civil and regulatory justice. Still, he defends the use of approaches based on restorative justice and mediation, as he believes that these are means of providing alternative mechanisms for human and non-human victims who suffer the consequences of environmental crimes.
