In the coastal region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) are the Mangueira and Mirim lagoons, which are part of thelargest lagoon complex in the world (Patos-Mirim-Mangueira complex). These lagoons are interconnected by channel systems
and wetlands, presenting a great economic, social and environmental importance for the State. Therefore, there is a need
to seek new knowledge to preserve this water resource. To this end, correlation analyzes were performed on a series of level
data obtained from lagoons and wells, from 2008 to 2013, aiming to evaluate through the level balance the degree of
interaction between surface and groundwater.
