The main objective of the research was to verify the water quality of the Pitas stream, in the urban perimeter of the municipality of Araputanga, Mato Grosso. For the physical-chemical and biological analyzes of the water, four samples were collected in two periods: rainy season and drought, in the Pitas stream. Some parameters of the water were analyzed. The Water Quality Index (IQA) was evaluated with nine parameters and the Trophic State Index (EIT) by means of the nitrogen series. The point 1 was the most was in accordance with the resolution, especially for dissolved oxygen in the dry season. Point 4 led to inadequate parameters. However, the results of the IQA presented better drought, ranging 53-67 points and 47 and 51 points in sections 2 and 4, which characterized water as regular in full. The EIT was high at all points in both periods, ranging 74-97 points for this index.
