The use of irrigation, added to different planting densities and phosphate fertilization have contributed significantly to the increase in agricultural productivity. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of irrigation frequency combined with different doses of phosphate fertilizer on phosphorus absorption, on the productivity of second crop corn, under two planting densities. The experiment was installed in a scheme of subdivided plots, with 7 different irrigation frequencies and two plant populations and in the subplots four doses of phosphorus (P2O5). The two-day irrigation frequency, in the population of 80 thousand plants per hectare, resulted in a higher content of phosphorus in the corn grains in the treatments that received phosphate fertilization. However, with a population of 60 thousand plants per hectare, the highest phosphorus content in the grains occurred at the five-day irrigation frequency. When planting corn with a population of 80 thousand plants per hectare, the use of the two-day irrigation shift resulted in higher productivity, regardless of the dose of phosphorus applied. However, with a population of 60 thousand plants per hectare, the effect of the irrigation shift was not well evident.
