Socio-professional profile of occupational safety engineers in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil (2011-2020)

Identifying a labor market demand for qualification can indicate new and different professional performance fronts. Thus, the present study aims to identify the social and professional profile of Occupational Safety Engineers (OSE) qualified in the state of Santa Catarina. Thus, it was a 10-year historical series (2011-2020), together with the Regional Council of Engineering and Architecture of the state of Santa Catarina. The socio-professional profile was constructed based on academic training, gender, age group, origin of registration in the category body and the city of occupational residence in the State. Among the main results obtained, it was observed that between 2011 and 2020 there were 2,926 records. As for academic training, 706 professionals (24.13%) have degrees in Civil Engineering, 455 (15.56%) in Environmental Engineering, 336 (11.48%) in Electrical Engineering and 333 (11.38%) in Engineering Mechanics. There was a predominance of males, accounting for approximately 95% among Mechanical Engineers. The age group from 23 to 82 years old, where 81.72% of professionals are under 50 years old. Most of the OSE (47.35%) have a driver's license from Santa Catarina and are located in the capital, Florianópolis. The Santa Catarina occupational safety sector presents opportunities in several engineering segments, as well as a professional manager from other Brazilian states.
