In the civil construction scenario in Brazil, especially in Public Works, the frequent inaccuracy presented in budget spreadsheets used as references in the bidding process for works is very common. There are several possible reasons for spreadsheets containing such errors to directly impact the estimated budget, ranging from inadequate specifications in the design phase, wrong quantification, unit costs incompatible with the local market, incomplete compositions, etc. Due to these facts, this study aims to analyze the Brazilian scientific production in the last ten years regarding budgets for Public Works. The analysis of data referring to scientific production through bibliometrics can demonstrate how these studies contribute to the public sector. Data will be analyzed from publications found in the Google Scholar database. Search parameters were used such as “errors” “Spreadsheet” “Public Works and “BIM”. The results obtained showed that the development of scientific studies aimed at problems related to errors in budget spreadsheets directed to Public Works involving the BIM method is still shy. But that has been growing in recent years, being an indicator of a subject with potential to be explored in future studies.
