This article, based on the partial results of an ongoing qualitative research on Angolan urban morphology, presents an analysis of the country's urban formation and its effects on the economic activity of local cities. From field observations, which had as theoretical support the studies developed on the Angolan theme within the scope of Lusophone cities, it was identified that the Angolan urban form affects the economic dynamics of the country's cities, particularly the city of Luanda, by the following mechanics: When building the space based on self-construction not oriented to the use and occupation of land, the environment tends to grow disorderly. This is due to the way in which buildings are arranged in space. As a direct result of the practice of unoriented self-construction, is the deficiency of the street system, which in turn hinders mobility, postal addressing and urban logistics distribution, which are fundamental to the economic dynamics of any city.
